There have been many great teams in the long history of American High School basketball, but the Chino Hills Huskies 2015/2016 team is the best team……yes, the best team in the history of High School basketball. You don't believe it, keep watching, and you will be enlightened! First of all, the dominant teams in American High School basketball are private schools, Chino Hills was only the third public high school team to be the best in the country since the year 2000, and another public high school has not won since their victory in 2016! (please repeat "another public high school has not won since their victory in 2016). The Huskies annihilated teams with big budgets and well-stacked basketball programs such as Sierra Canyon, Montverde Academy, and Bishop Montgomery with ease and nonchalance. They ended the season with a mind-blogging 35-0 record. You will appreciate the enormity of this record when we put it in context for you! The Chino Hills starting team was made up of two freshmen and only one senior…. think about that for a minute!!! These were boys among their peers, and no one expected them to be the super team that they proved to be. However, have you heard about the Ball brothers? You probably know them by now, but no one knew them in 2015. Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo and their good friends Onyeka Okongwu and Eli Scott were the "fantastic five" of the team! Fast forward to 2020……Lonzo is dominating in the NBA, LaMelo and Onyeka are likely to be top ten drafts, Eli is a sure draft for 2021 and LiAngelo can still make it to the NBA!! Yes, all five members of the 2016 Huskies super team could be playing in the NBA by 2021…..is this for real? Wow…… this has never happened before in basketball history! The Huskies were like Usain Bolt in the 2016 basketball season…..they literally whopped their opponents, and sometimes it seemed like they were not even trying! They won by an average of 30 points in the playoffs against some of the country's best teams. They destroyed the 2014 champions Mater Dei by 48 points!! This moment more than any other made Chino Hills the greatest high school team in history! Why…. Because it was totally unprecedented…. never before has such a magnificent team been blown away so effortlessly by a young team with no great history. The 21st ranked Sierra Canyon was embarrassed by 22 points, and the 6th ranked Bishop Montgomery was brushed aside by 22 points. The way that this 2016 team blew out their opponents was scary, and just wrong!....no team should be this good! And I do not want to make them look any better (pause for a few seconds) …….. but I have to tell you that Chino Hills scored more than 100- points in 18 of their 35 games!!! The exciting style of play, fearlessness, and consistency displayed by this 2016 Huskies team transcended basketball. It brought national attention to a small California school with no big money backing and a small basketball program. The Ball brothers and their two friends made it their duty not only to win matches convincingly but also ensure that everyone watching was entertained with their no-look passes, rim breaking dunks, and mesmerizing 3-pointers! When a team is good enough to do this against the best teams in the country, we have to take our hats off to them and just say……you are best!!! The Chino Hills High School 2016 basketball team is the best team ever in the history of High School basketball because they did not only beat every team that they faced but embarrassed them, sometimes I felt bad for some of the teams! We will probably never see another basketball team like the 2016 Huskies again; this team changed the profile of high school basketball forever!
